Need To Decorate Room In Wrestling Theme

The fork, an implement of Navarra

This entry is dedicated to a good sanmartinejo, a catatonic pro: Pedro Medina Sola, who gave me some details of his people layadores displayed in this image

layando Crew of unx San Martín (Navarra)
Both Corominas and José María Iribarren agree in attributing to the word "spade" (see below) a Basque origin: laia. Derivatives: laiatu (Layar) laiari (layador) ...
agricultural
This instrument has to be, given their elemental nature, very primitive (as is the Basque word itself "laia") and has been used until the middle of last century in places which was not plowing. But long before the plow, in the early farming this land of the western Pyrenees (a little less than 6000 years), had to use some kind of stick for digging to prepare for planting. The fork could well be coupled with the hoe, the peak .., the subsequent evolution of the suit digger.

The difference in elevation between the north and south of Navarra (more moist and tender in the north, drier and harder in the south) perfectly explains the different type of spades (tips longer in the north, shorter in the south) that were used.
The fork has evolved into the current "double handle Gallows" is not the union, the assembly of two spades to the two handles are incorporated to help leverage. This fork is used in orchards and stir for loosening the soil.

The traditional Southern laya Navarra has acquired in recent years, leisure and sports use as can be seen in racing forks and Artajona, Puente La Reina ...

Brothers Caro Baroja (Where work never grateful enough to take note of everything that was about to disappear), we delight in this video, from around 1970, with the action of a gang of layadores of San Martín de Unx. You hear a beautiful jack background:

What To Send After Someone Death Anniversary

ancestral history of nostalgia, love story

A great woman is the theme of this story. It is a story, it is not something made up, but this story is quite real: the facts, letters, people ... I gave the book a friend has chosen to keep the players named. These are three people (the names are fictitious), now deceased, who lived in a village (whose name I forget) of Navarre, though one of them went to America.
is a story of love and longing.
Listen to her niece

When, after his death, I collected a few belongings my aunt Marie, my attention a few envelopes that came across the Atlantic. The ordered, two of them by the date of the postmark and the other, which bore no stamp, the date of the letter. They were all 95. The first was addressed to her and to Jesus, her husband. The letter, dated 21 February of that year, he signed such a Michelangelo, a person who guessed very worried about his health. But I was touched especially his longing for the past and their land Navarre (it was the same town as Mariana):

felt pity for the man in poor health, suffering as well due to the difficulties of the years (about 80 then, I figured) and, from faraway America much he missed his people.
The second envelope (no stamp) was intended only for Mariana and handwritten. He gave me some embarrassment, but I began to read. It was July 20 and responded to an earlier letter from her:

"responding to your letter and satisfying my desire to communicate with you, personally have always been better. And who knows will be a great pleasure to have the opportunity to get together to remember those times as happy as innocent. Of course I remember the song "Rocío" in ages ... I got a bicycle from ... and I had this great dream of dancing with you, of course always afraid of that constant vigilance, so too was happier meeting the good times. "
... and had that grand illusion to dance with you
course I remember the song, "Rocio" in the ages of ...

felt another attack of modesty, but I could not stop:

"It's by nature these years of early youth are jubilant illusions and hope it adds to our love unfulfilled, it is never forgotten in the development of a different life, that never had many, many friends and proposals, but my feelings, so past experience, I prefer the song of white doves. "There is no love like the first." Those days, from Saturday night coffee with friends, looks out onto the sidewalk and windows to see if desired saw, the day after Sunday Mass and served with the view down to the Church of the "residents" in the square. After the Mass, those looks suggestive to attendees was a great joy. ".

... I prefer the song of white doves. "There is no love like the first"

This man, at 80 years, I was telling my aunt, 75, that she had been his first love and, despite all later relationships, it was hung!
was the third on December 20 and, like the first, typed and addressed to Jesus and Mariana. But it was not the letter.
Why? I do not think I lost it, but someone, probably my aunt, I would have done away with.
And the attitude of my aunt? How did you react to such a clear hint? Because I know that she had been very, very happy with Jesus.
curiosity I could and went back to check things Mariana until, turning to the role of propaganda in the city of Sevilla, I found what could be a copy or draft of his response to Michelangelo:

"I appreciate your letter, but the past is over. If you want to contact me will be with respect to the time when we now, you and your family and I with mine. "

I expected. It confirmed the image I had of my uncles. I recently learned that my aunt came out some time with Miguel Angel but as Jesus fell for the people, my aunt gave him the eye and, although it silly at first with one, could not resist his charm. Because my aunt was an earthquake was very nice, with lots of sparkle , cheerful, intelligent and genius (yes, it lasted a sigh). Although it was tiny and he was tall, making him what he wanted. It made me much grace and provoked in me wonder, because he had no choice but to surrender to the sympathy and affection with which it was Mariana.
Jesus was a serious guy, sometimes it might seem a little dry, but there was cheerful and accommodating the teaser of my aunt. Jacks sang, accompanying himself on guitar, with great elegance. We had to insist, but when my aunt was determined to sing it so beautiful that "has blue eyes," my uncle Jesus overboard and had to see my aunt's face.

"has blue eyes" by the duo Pampilona As

had no children (I think she lost the child at birth), capsized in heavy sobrinería: take us home to four at a time during the month summer. It was then that advantage for practical jokes, at times, to frighten us, hanging from the door he had hunted rabbits Jesus, and sometimes, just go to bed, suddenly appeared in the bedroom disguised as a lost soul. Come on, it always managed to keep us in suspense.
him, with how serious it was, he looked surprised and said, "but, Mariana, stop acting like a fool!". But inside she was laughing. They had
shop in the town for many years. And I remember when we went down to the morning (the store was on the ground floor of a large house), made us say one sentence:

"Good morning. How about you rested? I well, thanks "

And if we said with the proper intonation, pretended to be angry a lot.
I did not realize that it's my uncles was a great love story until the last 10 years of his life.
Especially
it showed her how much he wanted: to all eighty-something years always looking slyly, he made a funny comment, I grabbed his hand, or he planted a Besic.
He was less expressive, but agreed to it.
lived together 65 years. Yet in the last year, she, as she could, grabbed his hand or got with him, but in a way that still looked intend to continue conquering.
lived together most of his life and died the same year, he at first and her last. She never thought he had died but believed she had gone for a while to do something (the last years had been the head).
ended their days in a home for his people ... And in a shared room, and their lives.

Atondo Crime: anecdotes. Toribio, stick out your tongue (and 4)

Postal articulated
Anecdotes:
1. It was very short the press run of Pamplona.
In order to see how much was the public's curiosity to know the Toribio details Eguía trial for the crime of Atondo, I draw this note of Lau-buru (Pamplona newspaper) of 14/01/1985:
"... say that yesterday, in which issue we publish the statement, same day that we publish the trial view, have exhausted our paper rolls before noon . We thank the President of the Court, whose attentions to the press we have been given the task otherwise impossible , to satisfy public curiosity. "
2. Eguía Toribio reactions.
We saw his reaction when the executioner I made up the seat to fit better, stared impassively that the arrangements performed.
Let us now other reactions and phrases that show clearly the mental state of Toribio:
Lau- buru of 11/26/1984. Press Releases:
"Hosted Eguía to the scene, looked impassive the bodies of the victims ... has also begun to say that he suffers from any mental alienation "
La Vanguardia 19.10. 85:
Before hearing the notification of the decision said, " rather die on the scaffold to die in prison , for which thus merciful God forgive me my heinous crime. ".
heard the sentencing to pay close attention, but without flinching in the least. The clerk told him he had been denied clemency. When asked if she would sign the statement, he simply answered, "What for? What he wanted was to see the signing of Alfonso (referring to King Alfonso XII ). "
At about four o'clock in the afternoon, one of the Brothers of Peace Charity asked
- What are you doing, Toribio?
- Bloat to die, "replied the defendant.
and ended La Vanguardia:
The distraught mother of the accused had left the day before heading to the Sanctuary of Loyola, on the advice of people who wanted it away from the terrible spectacle.
3. The Executioner: Lorenzo Huerta
Tell a Pio Baroja nearly 13 years
"behind the car (which led to the gallows Toribio) executioner walked the walk, beer- "
And Miguel Sanchez Ostiz Baroja following memories:
" the executioner and the audience calmly explained details of the slaughter "
We said in the previous post:
" The executioner named Lorenzo Huerta and belongs to the audience of Burgos. The apparatus with which the executor of the law has fulfilled its terrible ministry is a modification of the old, modifications made by Huerta and was released in Vitoria in the criminal Garayo (a) sacamantecas, then some individuals the Black Hand and lately Eguía. Lorenzo Huerta has now been 47 executions.
Well, six years later (10/12/1891) is found in Olmedo (Valladolid). Executioner is a veteran: 56 years and over 80 executions. has to execute two lovers for the murder of her husband ( crime that inspired a novel to Emilia Pardo Bazán ). No shakes Lorenzo Huerta's pulse, the master of garrote. Victorian killed instantly. But Gumersindo not stop screaming. Squeeze the executioner uncovered his head and the offender is moving lips and eyes. Gumersindo back to club and even pulse. Terrible end! The 8,000 spectators can hardly bear.

4. The opulent banker
But news of the crime Atondo also gave rise to mess with newspaper accounts of competition, not without humor criticism like this from Barcelona's avant- of 18.10 85 (three days after the execution) to The Correspondence of Spain :
Things Correspondence:
"has been executed in the defendant Toribio Eguía Pamplona.
Among the various efforts that have been practiced at the request of clemency has been very
valuable the wealthy banker the Marquis de Campo. "
Too valuable," asks a colleague. For
is not known.
If he is right to be a little less, what had made the unfortunate Eguía?
5. Toribio, stick out your tongue!

Ramona Belzunegui

As you have heard, my mother (Ramona Belzunegui ) does not dare to associate the term "Toribio, stick out your tongue" to the implementation of Toribio Eguía. I, however, I've always suspected it was related, but so far not been able to prove it. But I had enough data that pointed in that direction:

  • The ABC of 30.03.1907 is an article in which the author complains that each day is repeated a million times the grace of "Toribio, stick out your tongue" by the Door So what Sevilla Street for more than a hundred young people who advertise goods: a rubber heads, crudely made, which, when pressed , effectively removed the language. He adds that the term Madrid is not even, but put into circulation the first seller, stranger, of these heads.
  • Consuelo Vello "La Fornarina" (1884.1915)
expression from the street went to the theater or rather, to the magazine: One of the most famous numbers of couplet singers of his time was " Toribio, stick out your tongue . " The singer used a ball drawn with human traits, pressing, pulling a large tongue red. The erotic connotations of action conducive to the excitement of the public.
  • In Campezo (Álava) , Shrove Tuesday, in the early twentieth century, young men exhibited a doll stuffed with straw and dressed as a man, who was called Toribio. In shod foot in the other shoe and sandal (references to "Baron?" I had not put sandals on his feet. ") And they shouted: "Toribio, stick out your tongue!". And those who walked the doll (" Cachirulo ") he responded "I do not want, I have it black!". In the square, placed it on the trough and, after hearing the sentence, drowned Toribio. After which they got, as Lanz (Navarra) , to dance.

  • Or this testimony, much later, in Patxi Oroz: [In these readings I just remember from my childhood, plus soccer news on Zarra, Basra, Gainza, some information "policy" related to the Second World War. Next to our house (in Beriáin, Navarra ) lived with his large family, Mr. PA, a farmer whose farm was enough to maintain two yoke of oxen, known for his pluck and genius. Used storytelling, and children we liked to hear the fireside on winter evenings, roasting chestnuts, but sometimes we lose sleep with a horrible story, like a hangman, I do not know if you have something to do with the same subject which has, if I mistake not, Pio Baroja, in which the narrator interspersed with appropriate gestures, a strong chorus, and grave voice, "stick out your tongue Toribio Toribio's going to get." And finally: "Toribio and removed."]

  • Thus, until this moment, all hypotheses were pointing in the same direction. But today (3/11/1911), I've been lucky enough to confirm them. My source (thanks, Javier!) Is Fernando Pérez Ollo who has told me many details about your visit to Atondo in 1996. There he taught the seat still stained with blood, where they sat Toribio and love, and assured him that Atondo neighbors, outraged for such a horrible crime, were in the front row during the execution taunting and shouting Eguía the then famous, "Toribio, stick out your tongue!".
As seen in the previous entry, the historian of Lau-buru not have any of it, but it does say a very significant phrase: "Leave aside certain details, "a phrase that gives rise to suspicion that things happened that refused to tell.

6.Últimas executions
The last executions by garrote system in Spain took place on March 2, 1974. The Catalan anarchist suffered Salvador Puig Antich , at the Modelo prison in Barcelona, and the common criminal allegedly Heinz Ches-Polish origin was actually German and called Georg Michael Welzel in Tarragona.

CANCER OF COINS, such as fighting

Hi all, after more than a year of inactivity, I return to my blog.

This time I will speak of the well known "cancer" of copper or bronze in their absence. The cancer or diseases of the coin, there is only a particular type of rust, which I will not give details of chemical composition because it is not what interests us at this time. Visually it can be identified as patches of a greenish hue, teal, and emerald green. You can create small holes or marks on the coin, therefore, if not removed early, it can ruin our part.

In my case, 2 coins had copper cents, the 1800-odd, with some spots and I am pretty ugly I decided to remove them.

After reading quite choose the following:

Place the coin in a cup of distilled water (WE DISTILLED). Distilled water, in a way, absorbs the components that make up the rust.

water change it daily, so the currency heavily rubbed with fingers and a rag, anything non-corrosive material.

The process is carried out for 2 weeks, but everything depends on the condition of the piece.

Then, wipe dry and take a hot oven for half an hour to remove any moisture it may contain. Stay of a grayish color, gave a patina something particular, but was very well and solved the problem.

In other currencies, after making this process a few days leave them in oil (they say it's better than olive oil) and then returned to clean with a cloth.

I hope you learn the board. See ya!

The Clot ,

district of Barcelona, situated in one of the oldest centers Sant Martí, which existed in medieval times. It was then farmland and orchards bordering the canal Condal Rec (Rec Comptal), which supplied water to Barcelona and in its course, some mills were located (now defunct).
All these farmlands were disappearing into the nineteenth century, which were built several country houses and stately homes, some still remain. Flour mills were subsequently set up an industrial structure that attracted many workers.
Today is a quiet district of Barcelona with interesting and nice curves.
Here we have cited those of the Colla and the day has been with us not much. Lorenzo did not want to appear. I repainted the square of Font Sagué and its street fund Comptal Drought. I had already painted in the past.

Atondo's crime: last moments of Toribio Eguía (3) Carnaval de Lanz

; garrotte, Table of Houses. Running Peinador. Barcelona 1891.
Juan Cancio Mena,
Eguía defender
Following the decision of 12 January 1885 death penalty club, counsel Mr. Mena bringing actions was referring to the special circumstances of his client. But all in vain.
Nine months later, on October 14, 1885, was read in the press of Navarra ( Eco de Navarra and Lau-buru ) that, after exhausting all resources, Eguía lawyer had sent a telegram on the afternoon of day 12 the President of the Council of Ministers so that it interested the mind of the Monarch ( Alfonso XII, who died a few weeks later) for his client. Telegram, although it was supported by other Civil Governor, the Bishop, and Vice President of the Provincial Council, before 11 pm was answered with Mr Cánovas in that stated that "with the greatest feeling was not able to advise His Majesty the King for clemency request."
was the last round, the last attempt to stop the unstoppable machine.
15 October at 8.30 am, Toribio Eguía fuerapuertas was executed in Vuelta del Castillo , next to the Portal Taconera .

What you will read below was published on 16.10.1985 in the Journal of Pamplona "Lau-buru. The reporter, shocked by the scenes, much to his chagrin, he had to attend, makes a unique story of the last moments of Toribio. It is worth continuing the story of this anonymous chronicler uninterrupted. Simply I have placed some notes so that once read, you can complete the reading with some data from Eco de Navarra, or my own observations. I only corrected some obvious mistakes, retaining the style and the writing of the time.

[confess that when you start writing, we have never experienced an emotion similar to that which now overwhelms our spirits. Shakes our hand and the pen does not know to draw the statement of the facts and circumstances that we intend to narrate, to fulfill the duty we owe to our readers.
Sad and painful task of ours.
And at the same time difficult for those who, overcome with emotion that will cause a performance he had ever witnessed, if not to find a way to do just that, can not control the rush of ideas that fight in his brain, far away the gloomy image, which keeps the mind of the corpse.
But we have a duty and have to comply.

day before yesterday at dusk, time, news reached them that we gave in the previous issue, Toribio Eguía was, as before, calm and resigned.
At 8 pm (1) made a will before a notary D. Polonius Escolá and D. Miguel Bissio, priest, and D. Ricardo Segura, MD, who served as witnesses.
At 9, more or less, dinner was served, ate with relish Eguía (2), and during dinner and before I kept remembering the crime Atondo -and he said, recognizing the severity and justice that had been imposed on the terrible pain that was going to suffer the next day.
was later visited by Mr. Prefect, who gave the elder Mr. Hugalde, confessor to the defendant, an image, material, Sacred Heart of Jesus with the inscription: "Thy kingdom Avenge" so that before the execution was put to the chest Eguía.

... grant him a good death.
Eguía Since then others just talked with the priests. His mind was still relatively quiet and did not stop talking about their spiritual affairs. He prayed the rosary with the utmost devotion. It was the second read on that day, as he had said spontaneously after being put on death row, before his death that he could do all three parts of the Rosary.
afternoon Himself had said from the window of his room to the prisoners who were in the yard to pray the rosary asking God to grant him a good death.
This was done at the direction of Don Angel Elduayen canon who, while visiting the defendant, was recognized by him, after many years since I had seen. Eguía Elduayen also prayed to the Lord in the Mass celebrated yesterday begged God for him what the Lord had promised.
After praying the Rosary, Eguía continued until midnight showing signs of repentance and giving to his confessor than a few orders. to about twelve advised him to lie down, and as I knew that at four o'clock in the morning had to hear Mass and receive the Bread of Angels, never ceased to remember this time, expressing desire to arrive soon.

went to bed (3) the defendant to twelve, but I could not sleep: an hour spent remembering the crime Atondo (4), praying and begging for mercy. at one o'clock and began to doze sleep lightly and often interrupted, for no other reason than its been restless, spent the three hours, as had been arranged, was to remain in bed.
Two brothers of Peace and Charity mourned by him during that time.

At four rose. Had remained in jail overnight, and zealous priests D. Pedro Velasco and D. Hugalde Zechariah. This immediately celebrated mass.
The prisoner listened with great devotion the continuously urged by Mr. Velasco who accompanied him. When the time of Completion Eguía the celebrant proceeded to a brief but heartfelt exhortation and administered the Holy Communion, which Toribio received with exemplary zeal and remaining after the thanksgiving mass accompanied and advised by D. Pedro Velasco.

passed after the defendant to his room and took chocolate, unique breakfast he had ordered.
short while later, the same Eguia said those who were with him
"I have to say the third part of Rosario, who yesterday did not pray more than two parties.
And then they prayed the rosary, which, as in all his prayers and pious acts, filling comfort to all the fervor with which Toribio implored the protection of the Mother of God, saying: "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for me, a sinner etc., etc., reciting these words with deep devotion.
Since the end of the Rosary until half past seven did nothing to prayer, repeating the aspirations that inspired these priests and others who had come early to help those in this holy task.
At seven and 40 minutes Eguía asked for something to eat, say a veal chop, but not having time to prepare and serve material, pigeon was served, ate some bread with a little and took a sip mellow wine.
He was somewhat concerned, but calmly replied to the comments of the priests.

Hopa Hooded
A quarter to eight entered the executioner to put the hopa. At that time he said to his confessor Eguía:
-In carrying out its duty, the executor of justice is going to wear the garment of criminals sentenced to death, but I am going to put on your chest logo repentant sinner.
And put him in the chest the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, for that purpose, had given the governor civil (5).
Our Lady of Sorrows
Then came the time that the defendant left the chapel to be led to death.
struck out eight and Toribio Eguía of that room never to return, but not pray with great fervor a salve to the beautiful picture, there is, of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Huge crowds filled the streets and immediate pllaza to prison. Among the crowd gathered, as in the windows and balconies, people could be seen of all classes and conditions, at the door of the jail was the car that was driving the defendant and there was also a section of Cavalry.
The expectation was deep, when Eguía sat in the car, surrounded by priests D. Pedro Ilundain, D. Peter Belasco, Francisco Gonzalez, D. Hugalde Zacarias, Miguel Bisio and D. Angel Elduayen.
Broke up a squad of cavalry, were the brothers of Peace and Charity robes and lights, then the car in which the defendant was, as we have said, and then an escort of cavalry.

In No. 30 of the C / Nueva, I saw a Pio Baroja 13 years
On the way (6) the defendant had moments that emotion came to mourn, but recovered thanks to the consolations that lent its prudent reflections ministers of the Lord.
From prison to the scaffold can be said that view did not remove the crucifix (7), who ran weeping fervent prayers.
The influx of people, as we said, was immense, in the place of performance stood the scaffold, and force of infantry and cavalry had formed the box beforehand. Once in the place of execution (8), Eguía other words just spoke to reply to questions from Mr. Hugalde priest. And D. This Pedro Velasco went to the stage, the other priests were at the bottom. Mr. Velasco knelt as soon as the defendant sat on the bench (9). Hugalde He then took the crucifix, as we said yesterday, had sent the mother of Tori and expressing it, put it in his hands, after he had kissed passionately.

The Taconera and the Church of San Lorenzo.
While the executioner held the accused with ropes and straps and I put the ring, Mr. Hugalde led to poor Toribio phrases full of love that he listened to his last moment.
One after the soul of Toribio Eguía appeared in court of Divine Justice.
God has used him for mercy.
D. At this moment Pedro Velasco prayed a prayer for and then D. Pedro Ilundáin briefly addressed the multitude, saying that Toribio Eguía died penitent and resigned, and counseling were to hear the Mass for his soul was to be held in the parish of San Lorenzo.

Portal Taconera late nineteenth
leave out some details. During the day were many people who went to see the corpse of the executed and to deposit a handout on the trays to that object had been placed at the foot of the scaffold.
At half past four p.m. (10) went to the place of execution the secretary of the Chamber of the Court Mr. Barasoain to witness the delivery by the executioner (11) of the body to the Brotherhood of Peace and Charity, procession and lights, had gone there with the council of the parish of San Lorenzo.

But we will not pray to anyone who reads it, to pray an Our Father for the souls of the unfortunate Eguía Toribio, to which God has taken under its wing.]
